Speed and Signals

Virtually all of “technical SEO” can fit into site speed optimization (site latency and user experience), technical signals (HTML code/DOM or server responses), and infrastructure (CDN’s, product databases, tech stack). A meta robots tag is an indexation signal while a robots.txt file directives are crawl signals. When considering order of precedence, a crawl signal can cancel out an indexation signal: if a page can’t be crawled, it can’t be properly indexed. Being able to understand the programmatic level of the internet is often not in the tool bag of most SEO consultants. Usually, you have to hire a technical SEO agency to get the same level of experience.
